Overview
Many desktop scanners used to have proprietary software that was required to be used to scan documents. Many of these various software have been depreciated and are unobtainable or simply no longer function.
To get around this, we direct people to use Adobe Acrobat's built in scanning tool, as this tool integrates with most scanners without the need for proprietary software.
Step 1: Open Acrobat
Locate Adobe Acrobat on your computer and open it. There should be a desktop icon for this, if there isn't simply type "Acrobat" into the search bar on the bottom left corner of your screen, the computer will then find the program for you.

Step 2: Click "Create a PDF"
This option is found in the navigation bar on the top of your screen, marked in this screenshot with red. It can also be found in "Tools", marked in this screenshot with green.

Step 3: Click "Scanner"

Step 4: Select your scanner and scan
In the "Scanner" drop down menu, select your scanner, making sure to select the option with "(USB)" in the name. You can leave the settings as default.
Click "Scan"

Step 4.5: Additional settings
After clicking "Scan", some scanners will have an additional window pop up. You can likely leave these settings alone and just click scan again.
In this example screenshot, the scanner is asking for the paper source, which is usually "Flatbed" and the color option, you would usually want to scan in color.

Step 5: Finishing up
Your scanner should now scan your document. After it is done, Acrobat will display the scan. The final step is to save the PDF as you normally would.
Troubleshooting
ISSUE: Adobe Acrobat asks for a login
Solution: Enter your college email address into the email field, it will then redirect you to the college's sign in page where you will sign in using your MyCollege/Computer login credentials
***If this login does not work when using the correct credentials, Submit a CSR requesting access to Acrobat***
ISSUE: Your scanner is not showing up
Solution: Ensure your scanner is plugged in and powered on
ISSUE: You followed all of the steps, but the scanner still will not work
Solution: In step 4, you were directed to use the "(USB)" option in the scanner drop down. Try again using the "TWAIN" option
ISSUE: The document successfully scanned, but you cannot find it
Solution: Make sure you save the PDF in Acrobat as mentioned in step 5. Name the document appropriately and make sure it is saving in a location you recognize (We highly suggest your Z drive)
If any of these troubleshooting steps do not solve your problem, please submit a CSR.
