Overview
The following instructions are a guide for students to install Multisim and Ultiboard on their personal devices. Please note the stated prerequisites below before proceeding. Various screen shots will be included below the step they are associated with.
Prerequisites:
· Active SUNY Broome email address
· Computer
· Stable Internet connection
Issue
On campus the MultiSim 14.2 is installed with a site license. The version that students can get from National Instruments is 14.3 as of 2026/03/11, as a student you can get a free trial for 45 days to use the software. There are subtle difference between both versions, as of writing this article each application (14.2 and 14.3) can edit the same project file. The license that a student can buy is sold by Studica and the student must be located in the US or Canada. National Instruments License Sold by Studica
How to activate the license after buying it from Studica National Instruments Signle-Seat Activation Process KB Article
Instructions:
1. Navigate to ni.com and create a new account using your SUNY Broome email address.
2. After creating the account, find the email sent to you by NI and confirm your email address. (You may need to check your Spam folder.)
3. Go to the Multisim Download here: National Insturments Multisim Download Page
4. Run the NI Package Installer. Accept the license agreements, click next, then click next again to proceed.
5. Please wait for the installer to finish running.
6. When it completes, you will need to go through the same process of accepting the license agreements, clicking next, and clicking next again.
7. Please wait for the installer to finish running. This may take some time.
8. Say yes to the NI Update Service.
9. Sign in with your NI account that you created earlier. This may take some time.

11. Reboot after you get your license activated
12. You should now be ready to use MultiSim or Utilboard
