Summary:

The following instructions are a guide for students to install Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 on their personal devices as part of being a student at SUNY Broome. Please note the stated prerequisites below before proceeding. Various screenshots will be included below the step they are associated with.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid MyCollege login

  • Computer

  • Administrator privileges

  • Stable internet connection

Instructions:

  1. Navigate to the link (https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=3) and complete the form if you have not already. You will be redirected to Azure Education after verification.

  2. Under Learning resources, select Software. Then search for Visual Studio

  1. Select Visual Studio Enterprise Edition 2022. Click on View Key. Make sure you copy this key and save it for later. Without this key, you will only get a trial period. Then select download.

  1. Setup the Visual Studio Installer, selecting the workloads, components, etc. that you need, and Install the program. Wait for the installation to complete and launch Visual Studio if it doesn’t automatically.

  2. Select continue without code.

  1. Sign in using your MyCollege credentials. If the Microsoft login window does not automatically appear, you can continue without signing in for now. Just click the ‘Sign in’ button in the upper right once the full Visual Studio program is open.

  2. Select your preferences for development settings and color theme.

  3. Restart your computer. When your computer is ready again, open Visual as an administrator. If you do not have administrator privileges on your computer, this step and the following steps will not work.

  4. Select File>Account Settings

  1. Select Unlock with a Product Key. Paste in the Key you saved earlier. If the key is valid, the program should say “License: Product key applied” under Visual Studio Enterprise 2022.

  1. You are now ready to use Visual Studio
