Connecting ChromeOS to Campus WiFi

Overview

All faculty, staff, and students have access to our private, on-campus Wi-FI network while they are a part of the SUNY Broome community. All visitors to the campus will have access to our public, guest Wi-FI network. The below instructions will guide you through the process of joining the private or public Wi-Fi.

For students, faculty, and staff, please use the SUNYBroomeConnect network. For all other visitors, please use the SBCCOpen network.

Please note: If you have successfully logged into the SUNYBroomeConnect network in the past, and are now unable to connect, please refer to the Troubleshooting section below.

ATTENTION: VPNs WILL NOT FUNCTION ON CAMPUS WI-FI. IF YOU NEED TO USE A VPN, YOU MUST CONNECT YOUR LAPTOP TO A PERSONAL HOTSPOT.

Incorrect configuration

Refer to Step 5 in these instructions. If the incorrect options are selected in the network configuration, it will fail to connect.

Incorrect credentials

If you fail to connect to the network, the most likely cause is entering your credentials in incorrectly. Be careful to check how you spell your username and your password.

Incorrect system time/date

Another possible issue that can prevent you from connecting to a Wi-Fi network is your system date and/or time being incorrect.
